Strengthen the security of your account so no one has access who shouldn’t.
Two-factor authentication
One of the most important things you can do to protect your account is turn on two-factor authentication. Set up an email address, phone number, WhatsApp or third-party app to help us confirm it’s you when you log in from a new device. For more info visit our Help Center here.
Suspicious login Notifications
If someone logs in to your account from an unknown location or device, we’ll send you a notification to confirm it was you.
If it wasn’t you, you’ll be able to quickly reset your password to make sure no one else can log in to your account.
Emails from Instagram
If Instagram ever emails you about your account, it will appear in your app under “Emails from Instagram.” To visit this surface, tap “Settings,” “Security” and “Emails from Instagram.” You can rely on this surface to determine if an email you’ve received from Instagram is authentic. Strong Passwords
Set a unique password, then keep it private. Your Instagram password should be different from the passwords you use to log into other accounts, like your email or bank account. You can change it at any time. For more info visit our Help Center here.
Hacked Accounts
If you get hacked, we’ll confirm that you own the account by asking you to enter a code sent to your email or phone when you try to log in. Always ensure the email and phone numbers associated with your device are up to date. These steps will help you recover your account. For more info visit our Help Center here.
SECURITY CHECK-UP
Complete Security Checkup to ensure your account is protected at all times
Security Checkup guides you through the steps needed to secure your account including: checking login activity, reviewing profile information, confirming the accounts that share login information and updating account recovery contact information such as a phone number or email address.
To complete Security Checkup, go to your Profile and tap the menu in the upper right corner, next tap “Settings”, “Security” then tap “Security Checkup.” Learn more in the Help Center.
