The British Open Championship—the oldest of the four major championships in professional golf—is in full swing at Muirfield golf club in Edinburgh. The tournament was first held on October 17, 1860, at Prestwick Golf Club in Scotland. Eight golfers played three rounds in a single day and the winner, Willie Park, was presented with the prize of a red leather belt with a silver buckle.
