Winking at the Fashion World with @tiffanycooper_

For more of Tiffany’s black-felt-pen drawings featuring fashion personalities from Suzy Menkes to Tavi Gevinson, follow @tiffanycooper_ on Instagram.

Paris Instagrammer and illustrator Tiffany Cooper’s (@tiffanycooper_) pop-culture comics are always drawn with a gentle wink. “I especially like mocking the fashion industry,” she says, “but in a nice way. Making people laugh is the ultimate thing for me.”

Just two years ago, Tiffany was struggling to find her place in the fashion world and had begun sharing a few of her drawings online. Last week, her first line of designs debuted in Paris along with a book edited by Lewis Trondheim (@LewisTrondheim). “I wish I could have told unemployed-and-beat me that after only a year or two I would end up at Colette (@Colette),” she says, “launching my own brand and being edited by one of my favorite editors in the world!”

Overcoming Shyness with Margot Breby

To see more of Margot’s whimsical photos and videos, follow @margotbreby on Instagram.

For Paris Instagrammer Margot Breby (@margotbreby), her style was always a way out of her shell. “I am very shy, and fashion is a good way to express myself,” she says. “Growing up, I wanted to become a stylist and I drew outfits I dreamed of wearing.”

Margot’s serene, light-soaked Instagram photos have also helped with her shyness. “It brought wonderful people into my life,” she says. “People who became true friends. I never imagined that when I began a year ago.”

Margot’s inspiration comes from eclectic sources, many of whom share her whimsical outlook. “I really love Sofia Coppola’s and Wes Anderson’s movies and Tim Walker’s photography,” she says. “I am also very inspired by other Instagrammers.”

Behind the Scenes at Autumn Couture Week in Paris

To see more behind-the-scenes moments from Paris Couture Week, follow @neriad and @parisinfourmonths on Instagram and explore the #pfw hashtag.

Instagrammer Adrien Brunel (@neriad) describes his Paris street photography as a process of getting lost in a daydream and letting moments find him. On Wednesday, when he was invited to the Maison Martin Margiela (@maisonmargiela) autumn couture show in Paris, it was like capturing someone else’s daydream. “It’s marrying two universes,” he says, “connecting the mood of my pictures with inspiration from a designer.”

Fashion houses show couture collections twice a year, typically including intricate, extravagant clothes that are made by hand. The shows are staged with a sense of theater and great attention to detail.

Instagrammer Carin Olsson (@parisinfourmonths), who attended the shows of Christian Dior (@dior) and Jean Paul Gaultier (@jpgaultierofficial) also described them as a departure from reality. “Stepping into the Dior show was like stepping into a different world, she says. “Haute couture is an almost unattainable fantasy. I have to pinch myself because it’s so unreal.”

Making Up the Music with @stephanie_fernandez

To see more of Stephanie’s makeup looks follow @stephanie_fernandez on Instagram.

"What started out as a day at home experimenting with makeup has become my career aspiration and ultimately the love of my life,” says 19-year-old Louisiana Instagrammer Stephanie Fernandez (@stephanie_fernandez), who often acts as makeup artist, model and photographer for each of her makeup sessions. “I know my face and body better than anyone, so it is a very familiar canvas,” she explains.

Stephanie defines her makeup style as colorfully creepy. “The gory and creepy side of my style is influenced by my passion for horror movies and psychological thrillers,” she says. “Most of my makeup is also heavily influenced by music. I love to be able to create and see what I am hearing and feeling. I simply see it in my mind’s eye, and my hands do the rest.”

Stephanie’s dreams are as colorful and eclectic as her work. “I would love to do high-fashion makeup for NYC Fashion Week. I would love to have at least 100 art shows before I die. I would love to direct movies and creative direct music videos as well as open a studio to create SFX masks, canvas pieces and explore other media. I have no limits. My mind is constantly moving. I want to do it all.”

Weekend Hashtag Project: #WHPstreetstyle

Weekend Hashtag Project is a series featuring designated themes & hashtags chosen by Instagram’s Community Team. For a chance to be featured on the Instagram blog, follow @instagram and look for a post announcing the weekend’s project every Friday.

The goal this weekend is to break out of your comfort zone and capture the style of a passerby in public, whether it’s punk, preppy or anywhere in-between. Some tips to get you started:

  • Before you start shooting, figure out your location and think about the lighting so you can quickly position yourself when it comes time to take the photo.
  • Try starting by complimenting a person on their style. Strike up a conversation and be respectful—if they say “no,” thank them and seek out someone else.
  • If you talk to the person you’ve photographed, don’t forget to ask if they’re on Instagram. If they are, tag them so they can see the result!

For more tips and insights, check out this video with tips from the Sartorialist (@thesartorialist).

PROJECT RULES: Please only add the #WHPstreetstyle hashtag to photos taken over this weekend and only submit your own photographs to the project. Any image taken then tagged over the weekend is eligible to be featured right here Monday morning!

Touring the World’s Waves in Style with @sageerickson

For more of Sage’s photos and videos, follow @sageerickson on Instagram.

Sage Erickson’s (@sageerickson) life as a professional surfer takes her to all corners of the globe in search of the best waves. “I’m so unbelievably blessed to travel the world—I’ve witnessed firsthand so many amazing cultures, beliefs and ways of living,” Sage says. “As humans, we each have a unique eye for certain things that appeal or inspire us daily. I find inspiration in these cultures and I like to share images from my trips.”

In addition to sharing scenes from her favorite beaches—she recommends photographing Mundaka in the Basque country, Mentawai in Indonesia and Whale Beach in Australia—Sage also explores a passion for style on Instagram, sharing her own bohemian, surf-style looks and tuning into favorite fashion designers, bloggers and artists.

Here are some Instagrammers who inspire Sage:

  • Courtney Trop (@alwaysjudging) - “Rad style, groovy as can be. She has such an effortless way about her with edge. I’m all about harsh lines, bold prints and she’s from California so I feel like she’s a kindred spirit.”
  • CrystalLee Farris (@crystallee_farris) - “I love incorporating suburban style into my wardrobe! I’m originally from a small town inland so I have a connection with the country—an opposite environment from my now constant hours spent at the beach.”
  • Maurie & Eve (@maurieandeve) - “I love everything about this Australia-based brand!”

Who I Follow: NY Fashion Week with @evachen212

In the #WhoIFollow series, we ask Instagrammers to share their favorite people to follow. For more photos and videos from New York Fashion Week as it unfolds, follow Lucky Magazine editor-in-chief @evachen212, model @soojmooj, stylist @carlynecerfdedudzeele, designer @prabalgurung and hairstylist @sammcknight1.

Thursday marks the official start of New York Fashion Week. As models sporting the newest styles for fall and winter 2014 begin to make their way down the catwalks, we caught up with Lucky Magazine (@luckymagazine) editor-in-chief Eva Chen (@evachen212). Eva keeps in close touch with her community on Instagram: “I love it when I can engage in a back-and-forth Instagram comment Q&A about the best SPF or my favorite designers of the season,” she says. “That, to me, is the new standard of fashion.”

Eva shared the people she’s most excited to follow this Fashion Week. For a look at the week through Eva’s recommendations, check out these accounts:

The Model – Soo Joo Park (@soojmooj)
“Besides having the most wickedly cool platinum blonde hair, Soo Joo has a great eye for everything—from food to fashion. She’s an ultra-chic downtown girl, yet down to earth (and funny!) as well.”

The Stylist – Carlyne Cerf de Dudzeele (@carlynecerfdedudzeele)
“Lucky’s Fashion Editor at Large, this legendary stylist tends to WRITE IN ALL CAPS and punctuate her captions with Française. She gives a peek into her enviable closet (oh hi, 10,239,298 Chanel bags) and enviable lifestyle (hanging with Miley, for instance).”

The Designer – Prabal Gurung (@prabalgurung)
“High fashion meets humble—Prabal is one of the genuinely coolest guys I know, and I love that he’s interactive with his followers. He posts photos of everything from backstage exclusives and red carpet dresses to trips to his native Nepal.”

The Hairstylist– Sam McKnight (@sammcknight1)
“Ridiculously talented but with a cheeky sense of humor, Sam gives his followers a look at the backstage workings at Chanel couture… as well as his English gardening habits.”

Lucky Magazine and IMG/Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week (@mbfashionweek) are also teaming up for an InstaMeet Thursday morning. Together with Eva and a few of her favorite fashion experts, a group of Instagrammers are exploring the tents backstage and sharing their photos and videos with the #luckyinstameet hashtag.

Street Style in Seoul

Garosugil (가로수길) in Seoul’s Gangnam district is a hotbed for street fashion. Stretching between Sinsa and Apgujeong metro stations, Seoul’s trendiest residents stroll along this fashionable promenade of boutiques, art galleries and cafés to show off and take in the latest styles. Many photographers, including Instagrammer Alex Finch (@iamalexfinch), can be found in Garosugil capturing photos and videos of the fashion scene in South Korea and sharing them with the world.

"I feel like the fashion in Seoul is often driven by the young students studying fashion at schools here," says Alex, a British expat living in Seoul. "They wear their own handmade clothes and accessorize with whatever they can." Alex shoots in the area almost every day and has even had the chance to photograph many Korean models who come to Garosugil, including Joo Woojae (주우재) (@ophen28).

Want to see more photos and videos of street style in Seoul? Browse the #garosugil hashtag and visit the Garosugil (가로수길) location page.
