Weekend Hashtag Project: #WHPmylibrary

Weekend Hashtag Project is a series featuring designated themes & hashtags chosen by Instagram’s Community Team. For a chance to be featured on the Instagram blog, follow @instagram and look for a photo announcing the weekend’s project every Friday.

The goal this weekend is to take unique and creative photos at your local library. Some tips to get you started:

  • Start exploring your library by considering its architecture. The exteriors of libraries vary widely and are often photogenic, and the inside spaces can be filled with small nooks where people can read as well as larger spaces meant for work or study.
  • The most important part of any library is, of course, its books. Get creative with ways of photographing books with special attention to all of the different colors as well as the patterns and lines that emerge from the shelves.
  • Lastly, libraries often serve as exhibition spaces for local history, rare manuscripts or even art installations. Don’t be afraid to ask to see what treasures your library holds.

PROJECT RULES: Please only add the #WHPmylibrary hashtag to photos taken over this weekend and only submit your own photographs to the project. Any image taken then tagged over the weekend is eligible to be featured right here Monday morning!
