Off the Beaten Path: Tiger’s Nest Monastery, Bhutan

Never been to Bhutan? Us either.

The Kingdom of Bhutan sits on the eastern end of the Himalayas. It was virtually isolated from the rest of the world until the early 1960s and remains mostly inaccessible to foreigners. The country historically let just a few thousand visitors into the country each year, but has increased that number to 100,000 in 2012.

For those who make it to Bhutan, the Tiger’s Nest Monastery, or Paro Taktsang, is a must see. Want to go there without the hassle? Check out photos by Instagrammers who have already made the trek.
