The World Protests Russian Punk Band’s Sentencing
The three members of feminist punk rock band Pussy Riot were convicted of hooliganism Friday and sentenced to two years in prison. The band’s anti-Kremlin protest inside Russia’s main Orthodox cathedral Christ the Saviour in Moscow (watch the performance here) led to a politically charged trial that drew attention from around the world and sparked demonstrations far beyond Russia’s borders. Instagrammers were at Khamovnichesky District Court (Хамовнический районный суд) to document the trial and protests outside. See more photos taken there here.
