The name Namib means “vast place,” and it is certainly a fitting title for this beautiful desert, which spans more than 2,000 kilometers (1,200 miles) along the Atlantic coast of Nambia, Angola and South Africa.
Having existed for many millions of years, the Namib desert can proudly boast the title of the oldest desert in the world. Its landscape consists of moving gravel plains and vast sand dunes, and is almost completely uninhabited by humans, save for several small settlements — making the photographs shared from here all the more remarkable!
