When you have 18-24 hours of sunlight each day, what do you do? If you’re in Scandanavia, Estonia and Latvia you feast, drink, dance and bonfire.

Midsummer celebrations kicked off last night to commemorate the summer solstice. Communities come together to sing and dance around a maypole (midsommarstång) that’s covered in local flowers. Celebrants wear traditional folk costumes and floral crowns as a symbol of fertility.
