Bust out your top hat and go easy on the Pimm’s Cup — the Royal Ascot is underway! Every year Ascot Racecourse in the small town of Ascot, Berkshire, welcomes a Royal Meeting of races. This year’s began Tuesday and runs through Saturday.

For the 2012 event, Ascot has instituted a strict dress code, with “dress code assistants” patrolling the crowd for short hemlines and hatless heads. Didn’t bring appropriate attire? They’re loaning dress code offenders scarves, ties and hats for free.
